Drake is likely feeling the sting after his beloved Toronto Blue Jays were defeated in the 2025 World Series by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers, basking in their victory, took the opportunity to troll the rapper with some famous Kendrick Lamar lyrics in a playful dig at the Canadian artist.
Following their 4-3 win over the Blue Jays in Game 7 on Sunday (2 November), the Dodgers shared a group photo of the team and staff sporting “World Series Champions” shirts. In the caption, they wrote, “THEY STILL NOT LIKE US,” referencing Lamar’s infamous diss track Not Like Us—a Billboard Hot 100 hit aimed at Drake himself.
The playful jibe comes after Drake spent much of the World Series mocking the Dodgers’ star player, Shohei Ohtani, on social media. After Game 5, the rapper posted a photo of Ohtani wearing a sweater vest, captioned “ONE MORE!!!!!!!,” before sharing an image of Jays’ player Trey Yesavage striking out Ohtani and crowing, “Savage already [on the way] to the dugout boss lol.”
Drake was also spotted at Game 6 on Friday (31 October), which ended in a Dodgers win. Following their subsequent victory in Game 7, which secured the World Series title, Drake posted a more gracious message on Instagram: “Congrats to the Jays for a dream season and a legendary World Series fight!!!”
But the Dodgers weren’t the only ones to get in on the trolling. Nike joined in by posting a cinematic montage of the L.A. team, set to the track Not Like Us. Fox Sports also shared a cheeky edit of Lamar driving off with the World Series trophy, leaving a dejected-looking Drake in his wake.
The use of Not Like Us to tease Drake adds insult to injury, as the rapper’s defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group over the song’s lyrics was recently dismissed by a judge. However, at the end of October, Drake filed an appeal to revive the case.
Since Lamar dropped the track in May 2024, it has become a cultural touchstone, further amplified by his Grammy wins for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year in February 2025. A week later, Lamar performed Not Like Us on the biggest stage of all—the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show—making the song inescapable for Drizzy.
