Popular folk singer Mashiur Rahman Rinku, widely recognised through the Closeup One platform, has remained absent from the music scene for an extended period due to health complications. The artist has recently stated that, following four strokes, he no longer believes it will be possible for him to return to professional music.
Rinku explained that his physical condition has significantly deteriorated over time, making a full recovery unlikely. He emphasised that he has no intention of resuming musical activities unless he can return at full capacity. According to him, a partial comeback would not meet his own standards, and therefore would not be worthwhile.
The singer shared these reflections during his appearance in a travel documentary titled ‘Pother Golpo’, where he spoke openly about his current health, musical career, and personal experiences. In the documentary, he detailed the extent of his medical condition and its impact on his professional life.
Describing his situation, Rinku said: “I have no desire to return to music completely. Even if I wish to, that possibility no longer exists. I have suffered four strokes. One or two of them were not even known to people. After the fourth stroke, I realised that all hope was gone. This is something I have to accept, because it is the truth.”
Regarding a potential return to the music industry, he added: “The way I would want to come back is no longer possible. If I cannot return fully, there is no need to return at all. Even if I pass away, the songs will remain. My only request is that the songs are preserved.”
Rinku also reflected on his personal experiences with relationships, particularly contrasting urban and rural social dynamics. He stated that he now finds greater sincerity in the relationships he has formed in his village. According to him, urban relationships are often based on professional or practical needs, whereas rural connections are more genuine.
He remarked: “In cities, people often show affection based on work. In villages, the affection is original. They are my friends now. There is a saying—people value you when you are useful, and disregard you when you are not. That reflects urban relationships. When I could help, people cared. Now, no one keeps in touch. I have done what I could for others, but I do not seek sympathy.”
Rinku has been experiencing serious health issues since suffering his first stroke in 2020. The condition led to partial paralysis on one side of his body, making normal daily activities increasingly difficult. As a result, he is currently residing in his native village, where he spends his time in relative seclusion.
He noted that the companionship and support of local villagers have become an important source of strength in his life. Accepting his present circumstances, he continues to live away from the public eye, focusing on his health and personal well-being.
