Miya Folick, the Los Angeles-based artist, has unveiled her new single, “Maybe When I’m Ready.” The track is an evocative and delicate breakup anthem, one that speaks to the complexities of unfulfilled desires and the difficult yet empowering process of moving on. With haunting melodies and a stripped-back sound, the song invites listeners into a space of emotional honesty, confronting the inner turmoil of realising that a relationship has run its course.
In an intimate reflection on the song’s creation, Folick explains, “It’s about that moment in a relationship when you know it has to end, but you’re unable to summon the courage to take the necessary steps. I wrote it with Alex Casnoff, sitting hunched over an acoustic guitar in the studio, and it felt like a quiet but cathartic moment.”
“Maybe When I’m Ready” is just one of the new tracks from Folick’s upcoming album, Erotica Veronica (Deluxe), due for release on January 2, 2026. This deluxe edition will include five new tracks, including the previously released singles “Elton John” and “Mid July,” along with an original demo of the title track “Erotica,” and a reworked version of “Light Through The Linen,” featuring Chrome Sparks.
The original Erotica Veronica is a bold exploration of self-realisation and emotional vulnerability, described by Folick as a psychosexual and psychosensual portrait of integration. The Deluxe edition, she notes, offers “even more juicy insights into my longings, joys, sadnesses, and dysfunctions,” adding, “Why stop at ‘Erotica Veronica’ when you can have ‘Erotica Veronica (Deluxe)’? This may very well be my final act of vulnerability.”
Both versions of the album showcase collaborations with talented musicians, including Sam KS (co-producer and drummer, known for his work with Youth Lagoon and Angel Olsen), Meg Duffy (guitarist for Hand Habits and Perfume Genius), Waylon Rector (guitarist for Dominic Fike and Charli XCX), Greg Uhlmann (guitarist for Perfume Genius), and Pat Kelly (bassist for Perfume Genius and Levi Turner).
Having toured extensively in recent years, including headline performances and supporting acts such as Mitski, Faye Webster, Father John Misty, Maren Morris, The Japanese House, and Peach Pit, Miya Folick’s music continues to resonate deeply with fans. Her emotionally rich songwriting, combined with her magnetic stage presence, has solidified her place as one of indie music’s most promising and unique voices.
