The recent musical tour of iconic Bangladeshi rock artist Nagar Baul James in Rome has sparked intense social media debate, entangling the entourage in controversies ranging from financial disputes to property misconduct. Following their live performance, allegations emerged accusing the touring party of leaving their temporary accommodation in a disorderly state, prompting hotel management to demand a minimum cleaning fee of 200 euros. However, representatives for the artist have strongly rejected these claims, clarifying that the room in question was never occupied by James.

Speaking to the press, James’s spokesperson, Rubaiyat Thakur Robin, detailed that the touring party checked into a local apartment-style hotel ahead of their 16 August concert. The party had been allocated a total of four rooms for the stay. According to official accounts, James resided in room 345, while Robin occupied room 246. The apartment at the centre of the complaints—room 549—was assigned to another member of the backing band. Management maintains that attributing the condition of that specific room to James is an unfair misrepresentation.

Publicly circulated images from the checkout showed plastic water bottles and miscellaneous refuse strewn across the floor, alongside used plates, plastic bags, and food waste left on the dining table. The kitchen sink reportedly contained unwashed crockery and raw eggs. Text message exchanges between the hotel management and event representatives further highlighted the grievance, warning that future bookings would require a mandatory 200-euro cleaning supplement due to the apartment’s condition.

Additional allegations suggested the touring party departed the premises without notifying the reception or settling standard checkout formalities. Robin dismissed these claims as fabrications born from internal friction among local event organisers. Highlighting the logistical impossibility of sneaking away with a large crew and heavy musical instruments, Robin confirmed that the group checked out openly and travelled directly to Venice.

The tour has simultaneously faced friction over financial accounts. Local organiser Hossain Ahmed raised concerns regarding advance payments and ticket sales revenue, claiming that accounting discrepancies arose and that the touring party refused to clarify financial records, ultimately prompting a police visit to the location.

In response, Robin maintained that the tour operated strictly under a formal contractual agreement. He noted that if any contractual breaches had occurred, local organisers were free to pursue proper legal avenues. Emphasising that the group remained within Italy and was currently stationed in Venice, Robin argued that such disputes unnecessarily damage the international reputation of Bangladeshi artists.
