The horrific rape and murder of young Ramisa has sent shockwaves across Bangladesh, sparking profound grief and fierce national outrage. Channeling this collective sorrow and the public clamour for accountability, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has written and composed a protest song titled Ramisader Bichar (Justice for Ramisas). Reflecting on a painful legacy of unpunished violence, the opening verses invoke the memory of former victims: “Ramisa has suddenly joined Achiya / The murder of Tonu remains unpunished / Nusrat stands waiting in line.” The track was officially released on Saturday, 15 August, across the Khalid Sangeet YouTube channel, Facebook page, and official web platform.

The release features a collaborative effort from leading musical talents. Mahbubul Khalid performed alongside celebrated vocalists Tutul, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa star Abanti Sithi, and Sherakontho winner Rafsan. The chorus arrangement includes backing vocals from Sangeeta, Nitu, Surabhi Roman, and Russo.

An accompanying music video produced using artificial intelligence tools was released alongside the track. The video features appearances by Mahbubul Khalid, Rafsan, Tutul, Inaina, and Ichha, with overall visual direction handled by Saifur Rahman Sujon.

Elaborating on the project, Mahbubul Khalid stressed that advocating for the oppressed, neglected, and vulnerable remains a core responsibility of his artistic practice. The tragedy deeply distressed him, compelling him to compose the lyrics and melody as a tribute to the victim. Believing that a multi-artist collaboration would heighten the song’s emotional resonance, he invited Abanti Sithi, Rafsan, and Tutul to join the initiative. AI technology was utilized in post-production to ensure the visual presentation reflected the gravity of the lyrics, with Khalid expressing hope that the work stirs the public conscience.

Mahbubul Khalid has built a reputation for addressing societal ills, systemic injustice, and human rights issues through music. His extensive body of work covers patriotic anthems, folk numbers, devotional songs, children’s tracks, and spiritual music.

His past compositions similarly gave voice to national tragedies and humanitarian crises. His track Aduri highlighted the plight of a severely abused child domestic worker in Mirpur, Dhaka, while Felanire Korlo Guli addressed the fatal border shooting of young Felani. He also wrote Magurar Phul following the assault of young Achiya in Magura—a composition that earned him a BIFA Award for songwriting and melody. His artistic repertoire further extends to international causes, including songs on Palestine and the Rohingya refugee crisis, as well as celebratory tracks for global sporting events such as the Football and Cricket World Cups.
