The Californian five-piece band Culture Wars continues to push boundaries with their latest release, “In the Morning.” The track instantly hooks you with a magnetic charm, the kind of song you fall for at first listen. “In the Morning” explores the hazy and vulnerable moments of self-reflection: waking up alone, hungover, and wishing there was someone by your side.
Singer Alex Dugan shares:
“It’s that feeling of trying to convince someone (who probably shouldn’t) to come over and ease your loneliness. I wrote it from the perspective of my former self — I’m happily married now.”
Culture Wars describe “In the Morning” as a creative turning point in their journey. After touring with LANY at the Philippine Arena, they aimed to capture the vast, cinematic energy of the experience in the studio — and it’s clear that this shift has shaped their current sound. The band explains,
“The mix and production changed the way we hear the album — it’s now guiding where we’re heading sonically. I’d definitely call this song a turning point — the upcoming album will follow this direction moving forward.”
Their debut full-length album, titled “If Not Now, When?” is set for release in early 2026. “In the Morning” is our Song Pick of the Day, and the accompanying music video, directed by Eliot Lee, is a must-watch.
