Dhaka is bracing itself for a night of high-octane football and music as the capital prepares to host grand public screenings and live concerts to mark the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain. Two separate high-profile events scheduled for Sunday evening will see Bangladeshi-born international DJ and music producer Sanjoy Deb and popular contemporary singer Pritam Hasan take to their respective stages.
Sanjoy Deb recently shot to global prominence after performing alongside Bollywood star Nora Fatehi at the World Cup opening ceremony in Canada. Following that high-profile appearance, he travelled extensively across the United States, performing at multiple official fan festivals organised in major cities. This Dhaka concert serves as a significant homecoming leg of his international World Cup tour.
Having already arrived in Dhaka, Sanjoy visited the venue to oversee soundchecks and technical arrangements. Expressing his profound excitement about performing for a home crowd, the artist noted that whilst he had performed on several global stages during the tournament, returning to Dhaka felt deeply personal as it is the place where his artistic journey originally began. Sanjoy will be sharing the stage with prominent local talents DJ Tisha and DJ Rishad. Immediately after wrapping up the Dhaka event, he is scheduled to jet off to California to headline another concert in San Francisco.
Simultaneously, a massive event titled ‘Final Kickoff’ will take place at the United Convention Centre in the capital. The organisers have arranged massive digital screens for a collective viewing experience of the final match, complemented by a live musical festival. Pritam Hasan will headline this particular segment, bringing his signature fusion tracks to the stage. He will be joined by independent musical acts Firoze Jong, The Brown Testament, and model-actress Jessia Islam. The festivities are designed to run through the night, starting on 19 July and concluding on the morning of 20 July once the new world champions lift the trophy.
