The global music landscape continues to witness the unstoppable rise of K-pop, and the five-member boy band Curtis is currently leading the charge. In a historic feat for South Korean music, the group’s smash-hit single ‘RedRed’ has secured the number-one spot on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs South Korea chart for an unprecedented 70 consecutive days. This extraordinary run marks the longest period any K-pop group has ever maintained dominance at the top of the daily rankings, rewriting the history books for digital streaming.
The meteoric ascent of ‘RedRed’ began on 27 April, when it first climbed to the pinnacle of the South Korean Spotify chart. The track has refused to budge ever since, consistently fending off fierce competition from both domestic and international artists. By maintaining its peak position on the 12 July chart, the song officially completed its 70-day streak. In doing so, Curtis shattered a prestigious industry record that had stood unchallenged for three years and four months.
This historic milestone follows a series of incremental victories for the band. Earlier this summer, on 20 June, ‘RedRed’ made headlines by logging 50 consecutive days at number one, initially setting a new benchmark for K-pop boy bands. Instead of relinquishing its crown, the track extended its dominance to establish the current 70-day record, a testament to the song’s enduring appeal and a highly dedicated fanbase.
The band’s chart dominance is not confined to daily metrics. ‘RedRed’ has demonstrated exceptional longevity on the weekly charts as well. During the tracking week of 3 to 9 July, the song extended its reign at number one on the Spotify Weekly Top Songs South Korea chart for the 11th consecutive week, establishing yet another historic milestone for the group.
According to an official statement released by their management agency, Big Hit Music, Curtis has seen their digital footprint expand dramatically over the summer. The group’s monthly listeners on Spotify have surged to an impressive 12,670,000. This massive listener base places them firmly within the top three most-streamed South Korean boy bands on the platform globally.
Curtis owes much of this critical acclaim to the artistic versatility of its five members:
Martin
James
Juhun
Seonghyeon
Geonho
Unlike many traditional idol groups, the members actively participate in the songwriting, composition, and production of their music, allowing them to forge a distinct creative identity. While ‘RedRed’ remains the primary driver of their commercial success, another track from the same album, titled ‘YoungCreatorCrew’, has gone viral across major social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, further amplifying their digital presence.
As their digital accolades accumulate, Curtis is transitioning their online momentum into highly anticipated live performances. The quintet is scheduled to kick off their first-ever solo world tour with consecutive concerts on 18 and 19 July at the Inspire Arena in Incheon. The high-production shows will serve as the launchpad for a massive global tour, which will subsequently take the band to major cultural hubs including Seoul, Toronto, New York, and Kanagawa in Japan. Showing the immense global demand for the group, all pre-sale tickets for the Incheon and North American legs of the tour sold out completely within minutes of release.
Beyond their headline stadium tour, the band is set to make a historic appearance on the Western festival circuit. Curtis will deliver solo performances on 31 July and 1 August at the renowned Lollapalooza music festival in Grant Park, Chicago. Notably, they are the only K-pop boy band invited to perform a solo set at the prestigious American festival this year, cementing their status as international cultural ambassadors.
