A celebrated love song from the golden era of Bangladeshi cinema is set to grace the silver screen once again, more than four decades after its original release. Ei Mon Tomake Dilam, first heard in the 1982 film Manosi, remains one of the most cherished romantic songs in the country’s film history. Now, after 44 years, the classic melody is being revived for the upcoming film Dom, with legendary singer Sabina Yasmin once again lending her voice to the new version.
The recording of the refreshed rendition took place on Wednesday, 11 March, at a studio in the capital. While the song preserves the emotional essence and melodic atmosphere of the original composition, the new arrangement introduces additional lyrics and a modern musical interpretation designed to appeal to contemporary audiences. The new lyrical segments have been written by Tanmoy Parvez, while the musical direction has been overseen by Arafat Mohsin Nidhi. In this updated version, Sabina Yasmin is joined by rising vocalist Momin Biswas.
The original song was penned by the prolific lyricist, composer, producer, and filmmaker Gazi Mazharul Anwar, with music composed by Anwar Parvez. During the golden age of Bangladeshi cinema, the collaboration between these creative figures produced numerous memorable songs that continue to resonate with listeners across generations.
