Warfaze Marks 42nd Musical Journey

The legendary Bangladeshi rock band Warfaze is set to enter its 42nd year in music with a blend of celebratory performances, new creative releases, and a special tribute concert honouring global pop icon Michael Jackson. Since its formation in the early 1980s, the band has played a defining role in shaping the evolution of rock music in Bangladesh, maintaining a sustained presence across more than four decades.

The group will complete 42 years on 6 June. While no large-scale official ceremony has been scheduled, the milestone will be marked in a modest yet meaningful way. On the same day, the band is set to perform at a pre-arranged private musical event in Dhaka. Band leader Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu noted that the coincidence of the date with their performance schedule has allowed for a small informal celebration, including a cake-cutting ceremony shared among members and close associates.

In addition to the anniversary observance, Warfaze is preparing to release two new creative works within the month. One is a reimagined version of the track “Kromosho”, originally featured in their 1996 album Jibondhara, now being re-produced with contemporary musical arrangement and updated sonic elements. The second project is a film title track, details of which remain undisclosed due to production constraints.

A major highlight of their upcoming calendar is a solo special concert scheduled for 2 July at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka. Titled Playlist: Tribute to the Originals, the event is being fully produced by an external production house. The concert will feature Warfaze performing both their own popular repertoire and an extensive selection of songs by Michael Jackson.

According to the band’s frontman, the performance will include approximately 10 to 12 of Michael Jackson’s most celebrated tracks, alongside Warfaze’s signature numbers. Several guest artists are also expected to join the stage, promising a diverse and collaborative musical presentation that blends rock and global pop influences.

Recently, Warfaze received the prestigious Ekushey Padak, one of Bangladesh’s highest civilian honours, recognising their long-standing contribution to the country’s cultural and musical landscape. The award has been widely regarded as formal acknowledgement of their artistic influence and enduring legacy.
