Young musician Romaisa Tariq from Lahore has secured a place among the top 16 contestants of the popular reality show ‘Pakistan Idol’. She has shared that participating in the competition has brought significant changes to her life.
Romaisa said, “Wherever I go, people recognise me. It’s an amazing feeling. Although sometimes I face funny challenges, Pakistan Idol has added colour to my life.”
Romaisa has not received formal musical training, but encouraged by her sister, she pursued singing and took her confidence to perform on the main stage of Pakistan Idol. She has already shown promising talent among audiences.
She gained widespread popularity with the folk song ‘Laung Gavacha’. Her songs quickly spread on social media, bringing her recognition across the country.
A business graduate from the University of London, Romaisa recalled that her rise to fame was dramatic—she learned her song had gone viral while dining out with friends. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar and practising her music.
Her mother stated that although they come from a conservative Pashtun family, they will not hinder their daughter’s dreams. She said, “I will not let anything block her path. I want her to grow independently and become established.”
Romaisa added that there is cooperation and a friendly atmosphere among contestants. She is fully prepared for the upcoming rounds, and her friends share the responsibility of voting. Besides singing, she is active on social media and enjoys making videos with friends.
