Bangladeshi musician Crown Engine has introduced a new song that brings together contemporary hip-hop and rap with a familiar element of Bengali musical heritage. Titled ‘Ki Hoilo!’, the track has been released by Gaanchil Music and features Crown Engine’s own lyrics and composition.

One of the song’s notable elements is the inclusion of the line, ‘Porer jayga, porer jomi, ghor banaya ami roi’, from a timeless composition by lyricist and composer Abdul Latif. The line has been incorporated into the new track as a mark of respect for Latif and his contribution to Bengali music.

Asif Iqbal, head of Gaanchil Music, said the classic line was used in the song as a tribute to Abdul Latif. Rather than presenting the older material in its original form, the new release places it within a contemporary hip-hop and rap setting, giving the familiar words a different musical treatment.

Crown Engine, who has written and composed the song, said he sought to express his own musical ideas through the rhythm and style of rap. The track reflects his approach to combining rap-oriented musical elements with his personal songwriting and composition.

Ali Adnan Ador has provided vocals for the chorus. The musical arrangement was handled by Critical Mahmud, while MR Rabbi worked as the beat producer. Guitar parts were performed by Aryan Hasan and Tirtha Chakraborty, adding live instrumental elements to the production.

The song was recorded at the Hall of Critics studio. Following the completion of its production, ‘Ki Hoilo!’ has been made available through Gaanchil Music’s YouTube channel for listeners.

The release brings together several distinct musical components. Crown Engine’s original lyrics and composition form the foundation, while the rap-driven arrangement gives the track its contemporary character. The inclusion of a line associated with Abdul Latif’s work adds a connection to an earlier generation of Bengali music.

For listeners familiar with Latif’s music, the use of the well-known line offers a recognisable point within an otherwise modern production. At the same time, the rap and hip-hop framework gives the song a distinctly current presentation.

With ‘Ki Hoilo!’, Crown Engine has therefore presented a track that places a piece of Bengali musical heritage alongside a contemporary rap sound. The release also brings together vocalists, musicians, arrangers and production artists in a collaborative effort under the Gaanchil Music banner.
