Dhaka Concert to Unite Seven Generations of Bangladeshi Bands

Seven of Bangladesh’s most popular bands are set to perform at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on 7 November as part of the celebrations marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The concert, scheduled to begin at 3.30 pm, will bring together some of the country’s most recognisable names in band music for a special live programme.

According to sources at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the line-up will feature Nagar Baul James, Miles, Warfaze, Feedback, Artcell, Shironamhin and Mechanics. Representing different generations and musical styles, the seven acts will share the same stage, offering audiences an opportunity to experience a wide range of Bangladeshi band music in one event.

Each of the participating bands has made a distinct contribution to the country’s music industry. Nagar Baul James is widely known for his powerful vocals, popular rock songs and energetic stage performances. Miles has established a lasting reputation through its melodic compositions and memorable songs, while Warfaze has become one of the prominent names in Bangladesh’s rock and heavy metal scene.

Feedback also occupies an important place in the history of local band music, with a long career and a recognisable musical identity. Artcell has developed a dedicated following through its progressive metal sound and distinctive arrangements. Shironamhin, meanwhile, is appreciated for its thoughtful lyrics, individual musical style and contemporary approach to Bangla songs. Mechanics, another familiar name in the country’s band music scene, will complete the seven-act line-up.

The gathering of these bands reflects the diversity of Bangladesh’s music scene. Over the years, different groups have helped shape the country’s modern music culture through their compositions, performances and distinctive approaches to songwriting. Their music has attracted listeners across generations, giving band music a significant place in the country’s wider cultural landscape.

Bringing these seven acts together is expected to appeal to audiences with varied musical preferences. From rock and heavy metal to melodic compositions and contemporary arrangements, the concert will showcase several strands of the country’s band music tradition. For long-time followers, it will also be an opportunity to enjoy performances by established names that have remained familiar to generations of listeners.

The concert is being organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, with support from the Bangladesh Musical Bands Association (BAMBA) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The collaboration is intended to help deliver the programme as part of the wider celebrations marking the national occasion.

Efforts are also being made to ensure that the event reaches audiences beyond Dhaka. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has requested public and private television and radio channels to broadcast the concert live. If the proposed arrangements are completed, people in different parts of Bangladesh will be able to follow the performances from their homes, even if they cannot attend in person.

The planned broadcasts could significantly extend the reach of the event, allowing music enthusiasts outside the capital to enjoy the performances. It would also give the participating bands an opportunity to connect with a wider national audience through television and radio.

Manik Mia Avenue, one of Dhaka’s prominent open public spaces, will serve as the venue for the programme. The combination of a national observance and performances by seven established bands is expected to give the celebrations a distinctive musical dimension.

With Nagar Baul James, Miles, Warfaze, Feedback, Artcell, Shironamhin and Mechanics sharing the stage, the 7 November concert is expected to be a major attraction for fans of Bangladeshi band music. The proposed live broadcasts could make the event accessible to audiences across the country, extending the celebrations well beyond the concert venue.
