AK Ratul, the renowned vocalist of the popular Bangladeshi rock band Owned, passed away yesterday at the age of 34 after suffering a cardiac arrest while at the gym around 3:30pm.
A highly respected figure in the music community, Ratul was known not only for his commanding stage presence but also for his talents as a producer. He had worked on numerous hit albums and singles for fellow rock musicians, contributing significantly to the genre’s growth in Bangladesh. Ratul was the son of the late legendary actor Abul Khayer Jashim Uddin, better known as Jashim.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held following Maghrib prayers at the Park Mosque in Uttara Sector 7. A second janaza took place early this morning, around 8:30am, after which Ratul was laid to rest beside his father at the Banani graveyard.
Ratul’s brothers, AK Rahul and AK Samee, are also well-known figures in the Bangladeshi rock scene, and his untimely passing has left the music industry in shock and mourning. Fans and friends alike have expressed their sadness, remembering the legacy of an artist who left this world far too soon.
