The Beatles’ iconic Anthology series is making its return with a remastered version, bringing fans a treasure trove of unseen footage and an exciting new episode. Disney+ has unveiled a trailer for the revamped series, which will feature a never-before-seen episode that highlights previously unreleased footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr working on the project in the 1990s. The new episode provides an intimate look into the surviving Beatles members reflecting on their time in the band.
This highly anticipated remastered Anthology will premiere the first three episodes on Disney+ on November 26, with the remaining episodes to follow on subsequent days. Originally broadcast in 1995 on ITV in the UK and ABC in the US, the Anthology series was a massive hit, and now it’s being reintroduced with enhanced visuals and audio. Fans can expect a journey from the Beatles’ humble beginnings in Liverpool, through their rise to international superstardom.
The documentary, directed by Geoff Wonfor, Bob Smeaton, and Matt Longfellow, originally aired in six parts. It was later released in 1996 as an eight-volume VHS box set and, in 2003, as a special DVD edition featuring an 81-minute collection of bonus content. This new version on Disney+ will also include a special ninth episode, directed by Oliver Murray.
The remastered episodes have been restored by Apple Corps’ production team in collaboration with technicians from Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post in New Zealand, ensuring the documentary is in the highest quality possible.
Alongside the documentary, Disney+ will host a number of other Beatles-related content in The Beatles Collection, including Let It Be, Beatles ’64, and The Beatles: Get Back. The Anthology series will also see the re-release of its iconic Anthology compilation album, with an eight-CD box set available for purchase via the Beatles’ official website.
In other Beatles-related news, Paul McCartney has recently released a book about his post-Beatles band, Wings, and has also contributed a track to a new vinyl edition of a compilation album aimed at supporting anti-AI efforts. Meanwhile, Ringo Starr is preparing for a North American tour in 2026 with his All Starr Band.
