Daft Punk Unveils New ‘Contact’ Music Video in Collaboration with Fortnite – Is a Reunion on the Cards?

Daft Punk has released a fresh music video for their 2013 hit Contact, originally featured on their highly acclaimed album Random Access Memories. The new visualiser premiered on YouTube on November 7 and is part of the French duo’s exciting collaboration with the popular video game Fortnite.

As part of the partnership, Fortnite has introduced an immersive in-game experience inspired by Daft Punk’s legendary 2007 Alive Tour, providing fans with a virtual taste of the iconic performance. The new music video, created in collaboration with Fortnite’s developer Epic Games and digital design studio Magnopus, blends visuals from this in-game experience with an eye-catching sequence of the robotic duo soaring through space. The space-themed visuals are a direct reference to the track’s opening, which famously samples audio from NASA’s Apollo 17 mission.

Magnopus worked closely with Daft Punk’s representation, Daft Life, to ensure the video captured the duo’s creative vision, according to Polygon. The result is a stunning combination of both virtual and real-world elements that embodies the unique aesthetic Daft Punk is known for.

The video release comes at a time of heightened speculation about a potential Daft Punk reunion. Recently, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one half of the duo, was credited as a composer and writer on Rosalía’s latest single, Reliquia, sparking rumours about the duo’s future collaborations.

Additionally, just last month, Thomas Bangalter, the other half of Daft Punk, made his long-awaited return to DJing with his first set in 16 years. He joined forces with former Daft Punk manager Busy P, Ed Banger Records founder, Erol Alkan, and Fred Again.. for a back-to-back (b2b) performance at a Because Music showcase at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

As the duo continues to keep fans guessing, the release of Contact’s new music video only adds fuel to the fire of a possible Daft Punk reunion.
