Ali Azmat and James to Rock Dhaka Together

Two of South Asia’s most iconic rock musicians, Ali Azmat and James, are set to share the stage for the first time in Dhaka. The concert, titled Legends Live in Dhaka, will take place on 14 November at the United Convention Centre, attracting audiences from across the region.

Organised by ASSEN Communications, the event will feature Pakistani Sufi-rock legend Ali Azmat, best known as the former frontman of Junoon, and Bangladesh’s iconic James, fondly known to fans as Nagarbaul. The concert aims to celebrate the shared musical heritage of both countries and showcase the lasting appeal of their distinctive rock traditions.

Mukesh Goala, Senior Strategic Planner at ASSEN Communications, said audience response has exceeded expectations. “The excitement we’re seeing from fans is truly inspiring. Ticket sales have been stronger than anticipated, and we believe this night will be remembered as a milestone in Dhaka’s live music history,” he said.

Organisers confirmed that extensive arrangements are in place to ensure a seamless experience for attendees. Security, sound, and lighting systems have been enhanced to meet international standards, reflecting the scale of the event.

James remains one of Bangladesh’s most recognisable musical figures, celebrated for timeless hits such as Guru Ghor Banaila Ki Diya, Pagla Hawa, Kobita, Asbar Kale Aslam Eka, Dushto Cheler Dol, and Bijli Chole Jeyona. His performances continue to draw crowds across generations, blending rock, blues, and folk influences that have helped shape the country’s modern music scene.

Ali Azmat, widely recognised as the “voice of Junoon”, fronted the pioneering Pakistani rock band from 1991 to 2005. His powerful vocals and socially conscious lyrics defined the band’s sound and influenced a generation of South Asian musicians. After leaving Junoon, Azmat formed Social Circus in 2006, continuing to explore new musical directions.

This marks Azmat’s third visit to Bangladesh, following his performance at the Dhaka International Folk Fest in 2019. His return has generated significant anticipation among fans of both Junoon and the broader Sufi-rock tradition.

The concert will run from 6pm to 11pm, with doors opening at 5pm. Tickets are available in multiple categories through the Get Set Rock website and other authorised outlets. Organisers have urged concertgoers to arrive early to ensure smooth entry and the best possible experience.
