Popular singer Puja is going through an increasingly busy period, juggling new music releases, stage performances and preparations for overseas concerts. Known for her appeal among younger listeners, the singer has several projects in the pipeline, including fresh recordings, live shows across Bangladesh and performances abroad.

Her recent duet, ‘No Evil Eye’, recorded with Muhammad Milon, has already attracted attention from listeners. According to Puja, the song has crossed more than 200,000 views on YouTube since its release. Its reach has also extended beyond the video-sharing platform, with listeners using the track in reels and short-form videos across social media. Such organic engagement, she believes, has helped the song gain wider recognition.

The response has naturally pleased the singer. Puja has observed that many songs now struggle to achieve the same level of viewership on YouTube that was once more common. Against that backdrop, she considers it particularly rewarding when a song reaches audiences without relying heavily on artificial promotional campaigns. For her, the genuine interest and affection shown by listeners towards ‘No Evil Eye’ is a meaningful achievement.

With Durga Puja approaching, Puja is also preparing another musical offering. She has recorded a Rabindra Sangeet for release around the festival, with the musical arrangement handled by Tanvir Alam Sajib. Work on the music video is expected to begin soon, adding a visual dimension to the upcoming release. The project is set to give her audience another opportunity to hear her in a different musical setting.

Alongside the Rabindra Sangeet, Puja has been working on several other tracks. She has recorded two new songs with Kazi Shuvo, while another duet with Muhammad Milon is awaiting release. With multiple projects progressing at the same time, her schedule now involves not only recording but also the various stages of production, release and promotion.

Live performances remain another important part of her professional commitments. Although open-air concerts tend to become less frequent during the rainy season, Puja continues to perform at indoor events and corporate programmes. She recently appeared at several events in Gulshan and Uttara in the capital.

For Puja, performing live offers something that recorded music cannot fully replicate. A recorded song allows an artist to connect with listeners through digital platforms, but standing on stage and witnessing an audience’s immediate reaction creates a distinctly different experience. That direct interaction, she says, remains one of the most rewarding aspects of being a performing singer.

Not every scheduled performance, however, goes ahead as planned. Puja was expected to perform at a concert in Khagrachhari on 5 August, but the event will not take place for her as originally scheduled. She said she decided not to participate following differences with the organisers. Despite the cancellation, she remains committed to performing at events in different parts of the country, with schedules naturally subject to change depending on circumstances.

Her plans now extend beyond Bangladesh as well. Puja recently returned from Malaysia, where she spent a week on holiday with her husband, Shubhangkar Sen, to mark his birthday. After the personal break, she has turned her attention to a new round of professional commitments.

Several concerts in London are reportedly planned around the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. Puja has already begun preparing for the proposed visit and said she has started the visa process for travelling to the United Kingdom. If everything proceeds according to plan, she will perform for expatriate Bengali audiences at various London events during the festive period.

Performances abroad can offer Bangladeshi singers an opportunity to connect with audiences who remain closely attached to Bengali music and cultural traditions despite living overseas. For Puja, appearing before expatriate Bengali listeners would therefore be another significant chapter in her ongoing musical journey.

With new songs awaiting release, live performances continuing at home, a Rabindra Sangeet planned for Durga Puja and a potential London concert tour on the horizon, Puja’s calendar is clearly packed. The coming months could bring both demanding professional commitments and fresh opportunities for the young singer as she seeks to strengthen her connection with audiences in Bangladesh and beyond.
