In recent weeks, singer Emon Chakraborty has been spotted at several events with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, including the Kali Puja at her residence. This has sparked speculation—could Emon be considering a move into politics?
Emon has addressed the rumours himself. Speaking to a media outlet amid discussions about the 2026 state assembly elections, he said, “I went to Didi’s house on the day of Kali Puja. The way she looked after us was truly incredible. My uncle, my husband, and I all went together. Didi personally served us food, gifted us two sarees, and even showed us around her home.”
On the question of joining politics, he was clear: “That doesn’t mean Didi is asking me to stand for elections. She loves my music, and I think she is simply another member of the audience—like everyone else. If a political proposal comes my way in the future, I’ll consider it. But so far, nothing of the sort has happened.”
Recently, Emon also participated in a social media trend where artists share posts praising their recent work in a humorous, apologetic style. Emon posted on Instagram, writing, “Our recent performances have captivated the audience. People are thrilled by the power-packed moments on stage. Perhaps in a short time, we have managed to gift many beautiful songs to them.”
In summary, while Emon Chakraborty remains deeply engaged in music, he also continues to attract attention over potential political prospects. As he puts it himself: “Right now, my sole focus is on music.”
