Singer Tanjin Mithila is making another foray into film music after a break of several years. She has recorded a new song for the film Filter, returning to a format she explored earlier in her career. The track, ‘Bujhena Bujhena Mon’, features Mithila alongside fellow singer Monir.
Written by Salahuddin Sagar, the song has been composed and arranged by Sajib Khan. Mithila completed her recording three days ago and said the lyrics and melody immediately caught her attention. The singer now hopes the track will create a strong connection with audiences when it is released.
Mithila said her expectations grew after hearing the song and working on the recording. She recalled that those present at the session also responded warmly to the composition, with several suggesting that it could touch listeners emotionally. Taking that response into account, she said she tried to perform the song with particular care so that it would leave a lasting impression.
For Mithila, a successful film song can become much more than an element of a movie. Songs from films sometimes remain popular long after their original release and can become closely associated with the singers who perform them. She hopes ‘Bujhena Bujhena Mon’ will have a similarly enduring appeal and is now waiting to see how listeners receive it.
The singer is also working on several original songs. She has already recorded another three or four tracks, although details about their release have yet to be announced. Alongside studio work, she has remained active on stage, performing at several shows in Dhaka and surrounding areas.
Mithila recently released an original song titled ‘Piriti Piriti’. The lyrics were written by Ashik Mahmud, while Akash Mahmud composed and arranged the music. She also appeared in the song’s music video, taking on an on-screen role alongside her work as a vocalist.
Her recent projects also include music for television drama. Mithila has lent her voice to ‘Bornomala’, a song from the special television drama Ichchete Je Here Gechhe. Atik Mahmud wrote the lyrics and Ahsan Jamil Aanchal composed the song. Aanchal also performed the duet with Mithila. The drama was directed by Sadnan Rony.
Mithila has previously demonstrated her creative abilities beyond singing. Her solo album Mon Re, released under the Laser Vision banner, featured songs entirely written and composed by her. The album remains an example of her involvement in multiple stages of music production, from songwriting and composition to vocal performance.
Her professional schedule has also been balanced with personal commitments. Mithila recently travelled to Nagarpur in Tangail for personal reasons. She is planning to visit her parents in Netrokona before the middle of October, as she has not been able to meet them for a considerable period.
With a new film song, several original tracks awaiting release and continued stage performances, Mithila is maintaining a busy presence in the music scene. Her return to cinema comes with clear expectations, and the response to ‘Bujhena Bujhena Mon’ will determine how strongly the new track resonates with her listeners.
