A highly anticipated musical performance by West Bengal’s celebrated singer, lyricist, and composer, Anupam Roy, has been abruptly postponed just a day before its scheduled date in Dhaka. The decision was officially confirmed on Thursday by the primary event organiser, Yamaha Music Bangladesh. The news has left thousands of local music enthusiasts deeply disappointed, as ticket sales had already seen a massive response in the capital.
The grand concert, titled ‘One True Sound’, was slated to take place on Friday, 26 June, at the United Convention Centre in Dhaka. Jointly organised by Yamaha Music Bangladesh and Triple Time Communications, the event was meticulously planned to serve as a major cultural attraction. Alongside Anupam Roy and his troupe, the renowned ‘Bengal Symphony’ orchestra was also scheduled to perform, promising an unprecedented symphonic experience for the audience.
In an official statement, Yamaha Music Bangladesh clarified that all essential logistics and stage arrangements had already been finalised for the event. The organisers had successfully secured all necessary official permissions and legal clearances from the relevant government authorities well in advance. However, an unexpected directive from the government suddenly arrived, instructing the management to halt the event due to unavoidable circumstances. Adhering strictly to these administrative guidelines, the organisers had no choice but to put the programme on hold.
The management has assured the public that a comprehensive refund policy will be enacted immediately. Every single ticket holder will receive a full reimbursement of their purchase price through the official digital ticketing platforms used during registration. Detailed instructions regarding the automatic refund process, along with any possibilities of rescheduling the concert for a future date, are to be published on the official Facebook page of Yamaha Music Bangladesh within the next 24 hours.
Anupam Roy himself confirmed the sudden postponement to reporters on Thursday morning, noting that the local management had contacted him early in the day to deliver the unfortunate update. The Indian artist, alongside his band members, expressed their collective sadness at being unable to perform for their massive Bangladeshi fanbase at the eleventh hour.
