After capturing the attention of football fans worldwide with Sir Sir, the official song performed during the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, Bangladeshi-American DJ, singer and music producer Sanjoy Deb is set to make another appearance on the global stage. This time, he has once again teamed up with Bollywood star Nora Fatehi for a brand-new single titled Champion, scheduled for release on 29 June.
The success of Sir Sir created considerable excitement among football supporters and music enthusiasts alike, with the energetic track gaining widespread popularity across different countries. Building on that momentum, Sanjoy and Nora now hope their latest collaboration will deliver an equally powerful message, one centred on victory, perseverance and self-belief.
Speaking to our representative from Dallas on Saturday morning, Sanjoy said Champion was designed to inspire people far beyond the world of sport.
“This is not simply a song about winning a football match,” he said. “It celebrates every achievement that comes after determination and hard work. Whether someone succeeds in sport, education, business or any other field, we want this song to remind them to celebrate their journey. We hope listeners will feel inspired and empowered. Champion is meant to give everyone the feeling of being a winner.”
Sanjoy has taken on multiple creative roles in the project. Alongside performing the track, he also wrote the lyrics, composed the music and handled its musical arrangement and production. He revealed that work on the song had continued for nearly two months, with both artists planning its release to coincide with the excitement surrounding the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The music video was filmed on the picturesque island of Zanzibar in Tanzania, chosen for its spectacular beaches and stunning coastal landscapes. Although Sanjoy and Nora travelled there for just two days, the filming itself was completed within a single day. According to Sanjoy, Zanzibar’s breathtaking scenery perfectly complements the song’s uplifting theme and vibrant visual style.
Promotion for Champion has already begun across social media platforms. Nora recently teased the release by asking her followers whether they were ready for the new song, generating enthusiastic reactions from fans eagerly awaiting another collaboration between the two performers.
Away from music, Sanjoy has also immersed himself in the World Cup atmosphere. He is due to watch the Argentina-Jordan match live from the stadium in Dallas, marking his third live World Cup fixture during the tournament. Earlier, he attended the Canada-Bosnia and Spain-Saudi Arabia matches, experiencing the excitement of international football from the stands.
This latest match carries particular significance for him because it will be the first time he watches Lionel Messi play in person.
“Messi is a living legend,” Sanjoy said. “I’ve watched him countless times on television, but seeing him on the pitch is a completely different experience. As a football fan, this is something I will remember for the rest of my life.”
