Controversial Music Video Sparks Arrest Alert for Badshah

India’s prominent rapper Badshah has come under intense scrutiny after his latest music video reportedly featured school-uniformed girls in provocative sequences, igniting public debate and prompting official intervention. The Haryana Women’s Commission has summoned the rapper, and authorities have issued a look-out notice, signalling the possibility of his arrest.

The controversy centres on Badshah’s track “Totri”, where critics claim the depiction of young girls dancing while removing their shoulder bags sends an inappropriate social message. Allegations have also been raised about the song’s use of explicit language, adding fuel to the ongoing debate.

On Saturday, Haryana police confirmed that the rapper faces a look-out notice under charges of releasing obscene and objectionable content. Social media platforms have since removed the video to prevent further dissemination.

Amid the controversy, Badshah addressed the issue during a live session, emphasising his respect for public sentiment. He stated, “Recently, my new song ‘Totri’ was released, and I am aware that many have expressed objections to its video. I sincerely respect their concerns.”

He further clarified his intentions, noting that he is a native of Haryana and had no aim of offending anyone in the region.

Badshah added, “I am a Haryanvi at heart. Those who know me understand that my language, food, lifestyle, and identity are deeply intertwined with Haryanvi culture. I am a proud son of Haryana. I would never dream of disrespecting any child or woman. I request everyone to forgive me, considering my roots and intentions.”

The unfolding situation has garnered widespread attention across social media, with netizens divided over artistic freedom versus social responsibility. Legal experts note that the look-out notice is a procedural move, allowing authorities to prevent the individual from leaving the country while the investigation continues.
