Warfaze x Zippo Collector’s Debut

Global lighter manufacturer Zippo has, for the first time, entered into an official collaboration with a South Asian band in Bangladesh, marking a significant cultural crossover between international branding and the country’s rock music heritage. The partnership centres on the legendary Bangladeshi rock group Warfaze, resulting in the release of two limited-edition collectible lighters inspired by the band’s musical legacy.

The initiative is widely regarded as a landmark moment for Bangladesh’s creative industries, reflecting how local artistic identity can intersect with globally recognised consumer brands. Under this project, the two Zippo designs draw inspiration from distinct phases of Warfaze’s musical journey. One edition pays tribute to the band’s self-titled debut album Warfaze, capturing the raw energy and formative hard-rock identity that first defined their sound. The second edition is based on the album Pothchola, symbolising a more mature, introspective, and emotionally layered stage of their artistic evolution.

Each lighter incorporates symbolic design elements representing over four decades of Warfaze’s presence in the Bangladeshi rock scene. These include visual references to the band’s logo, thematic representations of rock intensity, and stylistic transitions that mirror their evolving musical direction over time.

The collaboration stems from an agreement signed last year, under which Zippo is expected to extend its involvement in Bangladesh through cultural and promotional initiatives associated with Warfaze. The brand’s local marketing operations are managed by Luxco Trading Limited, which has played a key role in facilitating the project.

Warfaze’s band leader, Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu, described the collaboration as a milestone in the group’s history. He emphasised that their music has influenced multiple generations and that partnering with a globally established brand such as Zippo represents both pride and recognition. In his view, the initiative goes beyond commercial partnership, instead marking a memorable cultural achievement for Bangladeshi music.

He further noted that Zippo has historically collaborated with iconic musicians and bands worldwide, and Warfaze’s inclusion places Bangladeshi rock within that global narrative. According to him, this recognition strengthens the country’s position in the international music landscape.

A representative from Luxco Trading Limited highlighted that the project aims to expand collector culture within Bangladesh. He added that future collaborations may further explore limited-edition products rooted in local culture, heritage, and music.

Industry observers suggest that this collaboration could open new pathways for integrating Bangladeshi music into global lifestyle branding. It is also expected to encourage a growing collector culture among younger audiences, particularly those interested in music memorabilia.

With a career spanning more than forty years, Warfaze remains one of Bangladesh’s most influential rock bands, having significantly shaped the evolution of the genre. This latest international collaboration is being viewed as a continuation of their enduring legacy and a step towards wider global recognition of the country’s music scene.
