Bangladesh’s pioneering rock band Warfaze has opened a new chapter in its remarkable musical journey with the release of its latest song, ‘Girgiti’, after a decade-long gap in new releases. The track marks another creative milestone for the band, which has spent more than four decades shaping the country’s rock music landscape with its distinctive sound, powerful performances, and enduring influence.
The lyrics of ‘Girgiti’ were written by Shams Mansur Ghani and K M Imranul Haque Ritul, while the composition was created by Shams Mansur Ghani. Warfaze took responsibility for the arrangement, performance, and production of the song, maintaining the band’s signature approach to rock music while introducing a fresh creative direction.
The song has also been incorporated into an upcoming film being produced by Upstudio Productions. Designed to complement the film’s storyline and atmosphere, the presentation of ‘Girgiti’ reflects an effort to create a strong connection between music and visual storytelling.
A special event was organised in the capital on Monday to mark the release of the song. During the programme, details about the making of the track, its association with the upcoming film, and different aspects of Warfaze’s long musical career were discussed. On the same day, an audio-visual presentation of the song was released through the YouTube channel of Loye Records.
For Warfaze, ‘Girgiti’ represents a significant return to regular musical releases following their last major release phase in 2012. The song has generated considerable excitement among long-time fans, who have been eagerly awaiting new material from one of Bangladesh’s most influential rock acts.
The film connected with the song is being produced by Hamidul Hasan Nabin and directed by Sourav Kundu. Upstudio Productions has handled the visual production and presentation of the song within the film’s narrative framework. The creators have attempted to develop imagery and arrangements that align with the mood and themes of the story.
Established in 1984, Warfaze has played a major role in the growth of rock and heavy metal music in Bangladesh. Over the years, the band has built a unique identity through seven widely recognised albums, including Warfaze, Obak Bhalobasha, Jibondhara, Oshamajik, Alo, Moharaj, and Bong Shotto. These albums have contributed significantly to the development and popularity of modern rock music among Bangladeshi listeners.
Beyond album releases, Warfaze has also achieved lasting popularity through individual songs. Tracks such as Maya, Alo Dui, Hariye Tomake, Ondho Jibon, and Ma have earned a special place among music lovers. Loye Records has been closely involved in releasing several of the band’s solo tracks, while the compilation album Pothchola has also remained a memorable collection for fans.
The year 2026 has become particularly significant for Warfaze as the band celebrates 42 years of musical contribution and receives the Ekushey Padak, one of Bangladesh’s highest civilian honours. The band has also expanded its cultural presence through a special collaboration with international brand Zippo.
Alongside the release of new songs, Warfaze is preparing further initiatives featuring music from different stages of its long career. Interest has already grown around the band’s upcoming new album, with the planned release of three songs from Pothchola adding to expectations among listeners.
