Song Written for Lucky Akhand Released

In 1998, a song written for the renowned Bangladeshi music icon Lucky Akhand was composed and developed during informal musical gatherings held in an office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The office belonged to noted lyricist Golam Morshed, where Lucky Akhand was regularly present in the evenings, taking part in musical discussions and creative sessions.

During one such evening, Golam Morshed wrote a song intended specifically for Lucky Akhand. The composition was subsequently set to music by Lucky Akhand himself. Despite this collaboration, the song was never recorded or performed by him for various reasons. The track, titled “Jar Kache Mon Rekhe”, remained unreleased for many years.

After a long period of preservation, the song was finally released on 15 April in the voice of popular singer Tarun Munshi. The release marks the first official publication of the composition since it was originally written and composed approximately 34 years earlier, according to the provided information.

Golam Morshed spoke about his long association with Lucky Akhand, stating that a significant part of his creative life is connected with the musician. He also noted that many of his songs were written with Lucky Akhand in mind. Regarding “Jar Kache Mon Rekhe”, he explained that Lucky Akhand himself had composed the music after reading the lyrics at the time. However, the song was never recorded by him. Following Akhand’s passing, Morshed kept the song preserved for a long time. He later decided that if it were to be released in tribute, Tarun Munshi would be the most suitable voice. He expressed satisfaction with the final rendition, stating that Munshi performed the song effectively and that listeners would likely agree with his assessment.

Singer Tarun Munshi also commented on the release, describing it as a unique professional experience. He stated that he never imagined he would sing a song written for Lucky Akhand. According to him, when Golam Morshed approached him with the offer, he felt a strong sense of appreciation and respect for the opportunity. He further explained that he grew up listening to Lucky Akhand’s music and had followed his musical influence from childhood. Singing a composition associated with such a figure was, in his view, a significant moment in his career. He added that while performing the song, he maintained the original composition while adapting it to contemporary presentation styles.

The song was released through the YouTube channel of the production company Gan Janala. The music video accompanying the release was directed by Rumki Rusa and Mashrur Hossain.
