“Sajna Re Tori Kaun Dagariya” is a soulful and evocative solo by Lata Mangeshkar from the 1948 film Asha. This track is a beautiful testament to the early creative synergy between the young “Nightingale” and the legendary maestro Khemchand Prakash. Prakash, who was instrumental in refining the technical aspects of Lata’s playback style, crafted this melody to highlight her exceptional control over slow, rhythmic compositions.
With lyrics penned by L. Meghani, the song captures the essence of a pining heart asking for the “path” (dagariya) of its beloved. The composition uses traditional Indian musical structures to convey a deep sense of longing and devotion, featuring the characteristic “thin” yet crystal-clear voice that would soon conquer the Indian music industry. Released just as the Golden Age of Hindi film music was beginning, this song serves as a vital chapter in the history of Indian cinema, showcasing the burgeoning talent of a singer who would eventually become the voice of a nation.

Sajna re tori kaun dagariya lyrics :
Sajna re
Sajna re tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa re
Tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Sajna re tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa re
Tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Sajna re tori bat niharu
Sajna re tori bat niharu
Tujh bin rato ko utari
Piya ki najariya re
Sajna re tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Sajna re more naina hathile
Naina hathile
Sajna re more naina hathile
Dil ko leke tore sapne rangile
Dil ko leke tore sapne rangile
Rowat dil ke haye
Rowat dil ke haye sari ratiya re
Tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Sajna re chhodo chhodo nithurai
Chhodo chhodo nithurai
Sajna re chhodo chhodo nithurai
Beet chali hai dekho bela suhani
Beet chali hai dekho bela suhani
Chunariya re
Tori kaun dagariya
Ek din aayike batai jaa
Ek din aayike batai jaa.
