Rock Band Mechanix Announces Album Amid Line-up Changes

The Bangladeshi rock band Mechanix has officially marked two decades in the music industry. To commemorate this 20-year milestone, the band announced the upcoming release of their long-awaited second studio album. However, alongside this positive development, the group shared news regarding a significant restructuring of their current line-up. Long-standing members Saif Irfan (guitarist) and Soumik Islam (bassist) have officially departed from the band. Mechanix confirmed the developments via a statement on their official Facebook page, posing the rhetorical question: “The end of a chapter, or the beginning of something new?”

In the social media statement, the band expressed their gratitude towards the departing musicians, noting: “Two vital companions of a journey built through countless memories of a long path, stage lights, sleepless nights in the studio, laughter, tears, and the bond of melody—Soumik Islam and Saif Irfan are no longer part of the current line-up of Mechanix from today. Their contribution, dedication, and love will remain forever unblemished in the history of Mechanix. We are grateful for every single moment we created together. Heartfelt best wishes remain for their future journey.”

The upcoming second album has been titled Ojoggo (Unfit). Elaborating on the conceptual background of the album, the band stated: “Behind every departure lies the hidden story of a new beginning. For the past few months, preparations for a new chapter have been underway silently, behind the darkness. Our new album, Ojoggo, was born out of some wounds, some questions, some unspoken words, and some unresolved feelings. This album is not merely a collection of songs. It is a confession. It is a protest. It is a story of rising from the debris of broken dreams. And a new Mechanix will tell that story.” The statement concluded by asking fans to wait for upcoming disclosures regarding new members, new material, and the future direction of the band.

Aftabuzzaman Tridib, one of the founding members and the lead vocalist of Mechanix, verified the internal changes. He stated that structural line-up fluctuations are a natural occurrence for long-running musical groups, noting that Mechanix had navigated similar transitions multiple times across their two-decade history. Tridib revealed that both Saif Irfan and Soumik Islam had joined the band in 2018 and accumulated numerous memories over their eight-year tenure. He attributed the departures to personal busy schedules and difficulties in dedicating sufficient time to the band’s commitments. Although the group attempted to resolve these operational issues internally over an extended period, they were unable to reach a mutual compromise, leading to the formal resignation of both musicians. Tridib extended his best wishes for their future endeavours and confirmed that the names of the two replacement members would be disclosed shortly.

Providing details regarding Ojoggo, Tridib confirmed it is a full-length studio album comprising ten tracks. Two singles from the project—the title track “Ojoggo” and another song titled “Kholnayok” (Villain)—have already been released to the public. To roll out the remaining eight tracks, the band has structured a release plan spanning the next four months, during which two songs will be officially launched each month.
