Raef Al Hasan Rafa, a familiar name in Bangladesh’s rock music scene, is preparing for a special solo concert that will also bring together several musicians associated with Aurthohin’s much-remembered ‘Aushomapto’ line-up.
Titled ‘Eto Boka Keno Tumi’, the concert will be held at InterContinental Dhaka on 2 October. The event is being organised to mark the release of Rafa’s new album of the same name, while also offering fans an opportunity to see some of the musicians from an important period in the country’s rock music history share the stage again.
The reunion will feature Bassbaba Sumon, Raef Al Hasan Rafa, Shishir Ahmed and Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal. Their appearance together is expected to be one of the main attractions of the evening, particularly for listeners who have followed Aurthohin and Bangladesh’s rock scene over the years.
The new album centres on songs by AvoidRafa, reflecting the band’s evolving musical approach, ideas and experiences. For Rafa, the release represents another stage in a career spanning roughly two decades, during which he has remained involved in different chapters of Bangladesh’s contemporary rock movement.
Rafa is particularly known for his association with influential bands including Aurthohin and Cryptic Fate. He later formed AvoidRafa, developing a musical identity that allowed him to explore a broader range of ideas while retaining the energy associated with his rock background.
At the upcoming concert, Rafa will perform several of his recognised songs, including ‘Cholo Arekbar Uri’, ‘Tumi Daklei Firbo’ and ‘Ami Akash Pathabo’. The set will also give audiences a chance to hear material from the new album in a live setting.
Music, however, will not be the only focus of the evening. Rafa is also expected to share stories and personal experiences from different stages of his musical journey. This part of the programme will offer fans a more personal perspective on the artist’s career and the experiences that have shaped his work.
The event is being presented by Dhaka Broadcast and organised by X Force. According to the organisers, the concert will combine live performances with the distinctive energy associated with AvoidRafa.
For fans of Bangladesh’s rock music, the event brings together two elements of Rafa’s career: his current work with AvoidRafa and memories of his earlier association with Aurthohin.
