Margaux Regan Announces Debut EP ‘After Thought’

Following the success of her debut singles “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” and “Radio Silence,” Margaux Regan has announced her debut EP, After Thought, which is set for release on January 23rd, 2026. Ahead of this, her latest single, “Obsessed,” was dropped on November 21st, providing another glimpse into the emotional depth and empowerment that marks the collection.

“Obsessed” is a perfect example of country-infused pop at its finest, blending the storytelling tradition of Taylor Swift’s early works with Margaux’s unique vocal style. Her voice floats effortlessly above pop-tinged country instrumentation, which features heavy drums and acoustic guitar, evoking a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary.

The track explores the anxious attachment style that is often associated with modern romance, taking a playful, self-aware approach to what society might deem “crazy” behaviour. Margaux has transformed this emotion into an anthem for relatable, exaggerated devotion.

“This song is about owning that obsessive side of having a crush – the one many young women can relate to but are often made to feel ashamed of,” explains Margaux. “I wanted to approach it with humour and a touch of sarcasm, like Carrie Underwood meets Sabrina Carpenter.”

Co-written with producer Ian Holmes at Soho Sonic Studios, “Obsessed” is the final single ahead of Margaux’s debut EP, After Thought — a four-track coming-of-age collection that explores the quiet chaos of growing up: the overthinking, heartbreak, self-doubt, and the small moments of clarity in between. The remaining tracks on the EP were all written solely by Margaux, including one collaboration with a close friend, mostly composed on her bedroom floor. The EP maps the transition from age 19 to 21, blending organic instrumentation with modern pop sensibilities.

The journey wasn’t without its challenges — halfway through writing, Margaux developed vocal cord issues, forcing her to reconsider her relationship with music. Upon returning, she embraced a more open, playful approach and became less afraid of imperfection. After Thought lives up to its name, capturing a collection of reflections and emotional reckonings. “The title mirrors my inner world and the way I process my experiences,” Margaux says. “These songs are the thoughts that linger after everything else has been said.”

Rooted in folk traditions and storytelling, Margaux draws inspiration from the music of her French-Irish heritage. Her mother’s love for iconic bands like U2 and The Cranberries, as well as artists such as Sinéad O’Connor, sparked her initial interest in music. At just 10 years old, Margaux picked up the guitar to write a song about a childhood crush for her school talent show — a fitting origin story for an artist who now channels romantic obsession into catchy, memorable hooks. She later added the piano to her musical repertoire, laying the groundwork for her versatile artistry.

At 18, Margaux moved to London to study Songwriting at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Shortly thereafter, she signed a four-song development deal with Soho Sonic. Margaux’s music, thoughtfully inspired yet unmistakably unique, showcases her raw talent. Drawing from the songwriting giants like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Zach Bryan, and Dolly Parton, her blend of country-pop has drawn comparisons to the likes of Kacey Musgraves and Lizzy McAlpine.
