Anya Vincent Drops Powerful New Single ‘Money’

Yesterday, 20-year-old Scottish singer and pop songwriter Anya Vincent released her second single, ‘Money’.

Drawing inspiration from the socially aware pop music of the 90s, particularly from icons like Lauryn Hill and George Michael, ‘Money’ is a thought-provoking, beat-driven R&B track that showcases talent well beyond Vincent’s years. Through her powerful vocals and impassioned lyrics, the song takes on the theme of greed and the destructive cycle it perpetuates, challenging listeners to reflect on their own values and society’s obsession with wealth.

Originally created as a demo written and recorded in her bedroom in Paisley, ‘Money’ was co-produced with LA-based producer Jordan Lawlor (M83, Deftones, Beck, Oberhofer), who also worked with Vincent on her debut single ‘Catfight’, released earlier this year. The two collaborated remotely via Zoom, FaceTime, and email, sharing stems, ideas, and developing Vincent’s initial rough sketches into the final track. Anya explains, “’Money’ was a track that came together quite quickly. I wanted the vibe to be clear and strong. One of my favourite parts of the recording process is working with audio engineer Kevin Burleigh at Gorbals Sound Studio in Glasgow – he knows I love experimenting with harmonies, and he always gives me the space and advice I need to perfect the sound.”

With her signature vocal harmonies, sharp lyricism, and 90s pop influences, ‘Money’ solidifies that Anya Vincent is a rising star to watch in the music industry.
