On 5 January 2017, a group of passionate friends came together to form the band Kurughar. Initially, the ensemble gained recognition by performing covers of popular songs, captivating audiences with their energy and stage presence. However, within a remarkably short period, Kurughar carved out a unique identity through their original compositions, establishing themselves as a distinctive voice in the Bangladeshi music scene.
Yesterday, on 5 January 2026, the band celebrated their ninth anniversary and formally embarked on their tenth year of musical journey, reflecting on a decade of creativity, growth, and social contribution.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Kurughar released a new track titled “Tai To Elam Sagore” on their official YouTube channel. Vocalist and band leader Tasrif Khan shared, “We recorded this music video back in 2022, but due to time constraints, it was never released. On the occasion of our ninth anniversary, we wanted to present it to our audience. The new version comes with enhanced sound, providing a completely different experience from the original recording.”
Tasrif Khan also revealed that the band plans to release two more new songs within this month and aims to publish at least one song per month in the future, signalling a more consistent engagement with their fans.
Beyond music, Kurughar has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to social and humanitarian initiatives. The band actively supports Rohingya refugees, underprivileged children’s education, and flood-affected communities, among other causes. Members participate in charity concerts, awareness campaigns, and community outreach events. On their anniversaries, they have organised drives to distribute blankets and essential supplies to those enduring harsh winter conditions.
