From Personal Struggle to Viral Star: How Shibu’s Song is on Everyone’s Lips

One of the most discussed songs on social media at present is ’10 e 10′. Opening Instagram or TikTok reveals reels or dance videos set to the tune of this track. The creator of the song, Shehab Shahariar, known in the music world as Shibu, recently revealed the story behind the song going viral. He mentioned that his fortune changed during an ordinary bus journey. Whilst he was heading home from university, Pakistani star Hania Aamir shared his song. The impact was immediate; by the time he reached home, he had received 50 requests on Instagram, which was a completely new experience for him. Although the song was released in April, it reached the peak of popularity centering on the date of 10 October, and fans started celebrating the day as ’10 e 10′ Day.

The story behind this song is quite emotional. Shibu shared that at the beginning of the year, he weighed 114 kgs and suffered from severe insecurity regarding his physique. People’s disrespect caused him mental anguish. To escape this situation, he decided to change himself and composed the song ’10 e 10′ as a mantra to regain his self-confidence. The core message of the song is that whatever the situation, a person is always ’10 e 10′ or perfect to themselves. Bringing changes to his lifestyle, he has lost nearly 30 kgs and is now much more confident.

Shibu’s music is now being appreciated not just in Bangladesh, but across the globe. His follower count on Spotify is almost 90,000. Interestingly, only 36 per cent of his total listeners are Bangladeshi. The rest comprise listeners from the United States, Canada, and Non-Resident Bangladeshis. Even from Pakistan, India, and Nepal, he is receiving a massive response. Another song of his, ‘Tauba’, is currently trending. In this song, he used samples from Arfin Rumey’s song ‘Sohena Jatona’, specifically the harmonium, guitar, and mandolin parts. Although initially hesitant about the lyrics, the words ‘Tauba Hay Tauba Baby’ and ‘Cinemar moto tomake dekhi’ came to his mind, and he decided to record the song.

A list of Shibu’s upcoming plans and events is provided below:

Shibu likes to add extra energy to his songs by using sampling. However, he is also aware of the legal aspects. He believes the song ‘Tauba’ falls under fair use because he added his own creativity there. However, he is slightly worried as the sample in ’10 e 10′ is very close to the original song. Yet, he assured that if any legal complications arise in the future, he will attempt to resolve them. Although he gained recognition through pop music, Shibu is now leaning towards folk fusion and wants to reach a wider audience with this genre. The first song from his upcoming album, ‘Opekkha’, has already been released, and another song is set to be released later this month.
