Cardi B has revealed the exciting news that she’s just welcomed a baby boy with her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, the wide receiver for the New England Patriots. The rapper made the announcement on Instagram yesterday (13th November), sharing a video of herself lip-syncing to “Hello” from her latest album, Am I The Drama?.
Alongside the video, Cardi opened up about the significance of this new chapter in her life, writing: “My life has always been a combination of different chapters and different seasons. My last chapter was the beginning of a new season. Starting over is never easy but it’s been so worth it!”
She continued, “I brought new music and a new album to the world! A new baby into my world, and one more reason to be the best version of me, one more reason to love me more than anything else or anyone else so I can continue giving my babies the love and life they deserve.”
The rapper also spoke of her upcoming journey, saying, “This next chapter is Me vs. Me! It’s me against all odds, me against everything meant to get in my way. I’ve started prepping for tour, getting my body right, getting my mind right. There’s nothing that’s gonna stop me from giving you guys the performance of a lifetime!”
In a more light-hearted moment, Cardi posted a video on her Instagram Story showing off some pink and floral baby strollers, revealing, “I just had a boy” before adding, “I just like girly things!”
Cardi B’s latest album, Am I The Drama?, released earlier this year, received mixed reviews. NME gave it a two-star rating, calling it “overstuffed and underwhelming.” The review criticised the album for feeling bloated and lacking in identity, describing it as a “soulless shell.”
Despite the critical reception, the album features a star-studded lineup, including Cash Cobain, Janet Jackson, Kehlani, Lizzo, Selena Gomez, Summer Walker, Tyla, and Megan Thee Stallion. Cardi also promoted the album in an unconventional way, recording public service announcements for the New York City subway.
