Bangladesh’s music scene has a new rising star in the form of fingerstyle guitarist, music director, and singer Antu Das.
Born in Rangpur’s Pakpara as the youngest son of renowned photojournalist Ranjit Das, Antu has steadily carved out his place in the industry through hard work, passion, and dedication, according to a press statement.
Known as a calm and introverted child, Antu developed a deep connection to music long before he could fully grasp its intricacies. While his peers were playing outside, he was immersed in music, spending hours listening, absorbing, and dreaming of melodies.
His musical journey began in 2007, but it wasn’t without its challenges. Many around him doubted the viability of a career in music, but Antu remained determined. His relentless commitment to his craft saw him practicing for up to 14 hours a day, sometimes foregoing meals, driven solely by his belief in his abilities.
Antu made his professional debut in Dhaka’s music scene in 2017. Starting gradually, he began collaborating with established music directors, and his distinct guitar tones soon featured in songs by some of the country’s most popular artists. As his reputation grew, so did the list of his musical contributions.
His guitar work on the track “Chand Mama” from Shakib Khan’s film Borbaad, composed by Pritom Hasan, garnered widespread attention. He also contributed to the Webfilm Network’s Network-er Baire Bondhu. Over the years, he has worked on hundreds of tracks, collaborating with leading musicians across Bangladesh.
In 2020, Antu’s folk-fusion cover of “Ami Tomay Valobashi, Jogote Hoiyachi Doshi” went viral, earning millions of views and hearts. His original track “Mondo Hotona” was featured in the 2025 Chorki web film Ghumpori, further solidifying his rising popularity.
Antu has also recorded with legendary artists such as Runa Laila, Fahmida Nabi, and celebrated West Bengali singer Nachiketa. His long-term collaborations include working with prominent musicians like Joy Shahriar, Pritom Hasan, Pathik Hasan, Minar Rahman, and the band Aabash.
Today, Antu is sharing the stage with one of Bangladesh’s most iconic musicians, composer and music director Habib Wahid—a significant milestone that highlights his growing success.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of his debut solo album Shunnosthan, which is set to drop soon. With his unique style and heartfelt connection to music, there’s high anticipation that this album will mark another major turning point in his career.
From a quiet boy in Rangpur to one of the most talked-about young musicians in Bangladesh, Antu Das is a name that will undoubtedly continue to rise in the entertainment world.
