Bangladeshi pop singer Mila Islam is preparing to release new music while maintaining a busy schedule of live performances at home and abroad. Currently visiting the United States, the popular vocalist recently received the Best Female Singer award at the Dhallywood Awards in New York, adding a celebratory moment to a trip originally planned for leisure.
Known for her distinctive singing style and energetic stage performances, Mila has remained a familiar figure in Bangladesh’s pop music scene. Her recent activities include international concerts, contributions to film soundtracks and work on original compositions that she hopes to introduce to listeners in the coming months.
The singer has been performing regularly at concerts in Bangladesh and overseas. Although her present visit to the United States was primarily intended as a holiday, she also attended the Dhallywood Awards, where she was recognised for her work as a female vocalist.
Speaking about the visit, Mila expressed satisfaction with her time abroad and thanked the organisers for the recognition.
“The main purpose of this trip was to travel around and enjoy some leisure time. I am really enjoying my time here. The Dhallywood Awards also took place during my visit, and I am grateful to the organisers for selecting me as the Best Female Singer,” she said.
Mila is expected to remain in the United States for several more days. During this period, she may participate in additional musical performances, although no confirmed schedule for those appearances has been disclosed.
Her professional commitments are expected to resume immediately after she returns to Bangladesh, with several stage performances awaiting her. However, the singer has made it clear that live concerts will not be her only priority.
She also intends to concentrate on completing new songs, including compositions developed according to her own musical preferences.
Mila has remained involved in film music alongside her live performances. Earlier this year, she recorded a special dance number for the film Malik, continuing her association with the country’s film industry.
She also recorded a new version of Akashete Lokkho Tara for the film Insaf. The recreated song received considerable appreciation from listeners, bringing renewed attention to her work as a playback singer.
The two film projects illustrate the different musical opportunities Mila has been exploring. While soundtrack recordings allow her to contribute to cinematic productions, she is equally interested in creating independent songs that reflect her established artistic identity.
Discussing her upcoming projects, Mila revealed that she has received offers to perform several types of songs, including playback numbers for films.
“I have received various offers for songs, including playback singing. But I also want to create music in my own way. I have a distinct style, and my listeners are familiar with that style,” she explained.
The singer’s comments underline her intention to retain creative control over at least part of her future musical output. Rather than focusing exclusively on commissioned recordings, she wants to continue developing material shaped by her own compositions.
Mila confirmed that she has already completed work on several new songs composed by herself. Some additional tracks remain unfinished, and she plans to continue working on them after returning home.
“I have already created some new songs with my own compositions. There are still a few more songs to complete. I hope to present some good music to my listeners towards the end of the year or in the new year,” she said.
Although she has indicated a possible release period, the singer has not announced specific dates or provided details about the titles and number of songs she intends to publish.
Over the years, Mila has developed a recognisable musical identity through her powerful vocals, contemporary pop arrangements and lively performances. Her ability to engage audiences on stage has been an important feature of her career.
Her interest in composing new material also reflects the importance she places on maintaining a personal connection with her music. For an artist whose listeners are familiar with a particular sound, producing original compositions offers an opportunity to preserve that identity while introducing fresh work.
The singer’s current plans involve balancing three areas of her career: live concerts, film playback singing and independent music production. Each offers a different way of reaching audiences, and Mila appears keen to remain active across all three.
Her recent recognition at the Dhallywood Awards has added another highlight to her overseas visit. For now, she is enjoying her stay in the United States while considering possible performances before her departure.
Once back in Bangladesh, Mila expects to return to a demanding professional schedule. With new compositions already taking shape and further recording work planned, she hopes to bring fresh songs to her audience by the end of the year or early next year.
