Even before the winter live music season traditionally reaches full swing across Bangladesh, popular band Shironahin has announced an intensive concert schedule, taking to the stage four times over the next six days across various venues in the country. The band’s upcoming appearances range from historic college grounds in the capital to prominent public university campuses and luxury hotel venues.
Ziaur Rahman, the founding member and bass player of Shironahin, confirmed the demanding itinerary on Saturday, 26th September. He revealed that between 27th September and 2nd October, the band will be delivering live performances across geographically diverse locations, requiring extensive travel and tight technical preparation.
The six-day performance stretch begins on Sunday, 27th September, at the Kabi Nazrul Government College grounds in Dhaka. Shironahin is slated as the headline musical attraction for the college’s freshers’ reception, organised by the institution’s student political wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, to welcome incoming students.
Following their performance in Dhaka, the band will travel north to perform on 30th September at the Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) campus in Gazipur. After a brief one-day interlude, they will return to the capital on 1st October for an exclusive concert at the Renaissance Hotel in Dhaka. The whirlwind tour will conclude on 2nd October with a major outdoor appearance at Patuakhali Science and Technology University in the southern coastal region of Bangladesh.
Packed performance schedules are far from unprecedented for Shironahin, who have remained a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s rock and alternative music scene since their formation in the late 1990s. The group’s signature blend of rock music interwoven with classical instrumentation, philosophical lyricism, and poetic themes has earned them a loyal following. Consequently, their live appearances remain highly sought after by university cultural committees, corporate organisers, and festival promoters alike.
This upcoming tour arrives at a notable moment for the domestic live music landscape. Recent months have seen significant instability across the country’s event sector, with several high-profile shows facing last-minute postponements or cancellations due to administrative and security challenges. In this context, Shironahin’s four-date schedule serves as an important indicator of resilience for the live music sector. Regular concerts provide crucial opportunities for established acts to engage directly with younger audiences while helping to restore momentum to the broader creative industry.
Shironahin’s current operational lineup comprises five musicians: Ziaur Rahman on bass guitar, Kazi Ahmad Shafin handling drums and the sarod, Sheikh Ishtiaque as lead vocalist, Symon Chowdhury on keyboards, and Sudipto Sinha Dipu on guitars. The band will embark on their first show at Kabi Nazrul Government College before wrapping up the nationwide run in Patuakhali.
