Renowned playback singer Arijit Singh has voiced sharp outrage over the recent police baton charge on protesting students in New Delhi. Directing his criticism at government ministers and the Delhi Police across social media, the artist questioned the authority assumed by law enforcement against young demonstrators. He cautioned that citizens will remember these actions, reminding officials that change remains the ultimate truth.

The student demonstrations in the national capital have spanned over two weeks, driven by widespread anger over systemic irregularities in the education sector and the alleged paper leak surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Protesters maintain that their demonstrations were entirely peaceful. Tensions escalated significantly when police forces deployed tear gas canisters and used baton charges to disperse the gathered crowds.

Footage showing officers charging at young demonstrators quickly circulated online, igniting a wave of public indignation across the nation. The forceful dispersal has drawn condemnation from various quarters of society, raising questions about the handling of student protests.

Arijit Singh is not the sole prominent figure to voice support for the student community. A host of high-profile personalities from the Indian film industry—including veteran actors Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sonakshi Sinha—have publicly stood alongside the demonstrators, condemning the heavy-handed police response.
