Ashes to Release Songs Fortnightly

Bangladeshi contemporary band Ashes has announced that it will release songs from its two upcoming albums, Bivrom and Danahin Pakhi, at regular intervals of 15 days. The group has already begun the rollout, following its earlier declaration that both albums would be released simultaneously.

As part of this plan, the song Feriwala from the album Bivrom has recently been published on the band’s official YouTube channel. The track, written and composed by Junayed Evan, quickly drew attention from listeners shortly after its release, reflecting strong early engagement from the audience.

Fans had initially expected full album releases in a traditional format. However, the band has clarified that a complete album drop, as was common in the cassette and CD era, is no longer feasible within their current release strategy. Instead, Ashes intends to publish the albums incrementally, releasing one song at a time until all tracks are available.

According to drummer Toufique Ahmed Bijoy, the band remains focused on maintaining creative consistency while responding to audience expectations. He stated that the group is continuously working on new musical arrangements and aims to ensure that each composition reaches listeners individually. He also noted that, following the announcement of the two albums, audience curiosity increased significantly, which influenced the decision to adopt a structured 15-day release cycle. The band expects both albums to be fully released within the current year.

The albums Bivrom and Danahin Pakhi are described by the band as the result of approximately ten years of work. The collection includes both older and more recent compositions. Some of the older tracks have been performed at concerts and various events but are being officially released as part of these albums for the first time. The band has also indicated that significant refinement has gone into the lyrics, composition, and arrangement of each track.

Vocalist Junayed Evan has explained that the thematic direction of the albums focuses on emotional experience over material pursuits. The songs explore how modern lifestyles are increasingly shaped by materialism, while also reflecting on alternative sources of emotional fulfilment. Natural and everyday experiences such as observing the sky, moonlight, or rainfall are highlighted as elements capable of influencing human perception and emotion. The albums also touch upon themes of existential reflection and internal conflict.

Despite their ongoing release schedule, Ashes continues to perform live regularly. The band is also preparing for an international tour scheduled for early June. Concerts are planned in Rome and Venice in Italy, as well as in Paris, France. One confirmed performance is set for 16 June, while additional dates are expected to be finalised shortly. Following the European tour, the band plans to return to Bangladesh for further live performances and to continue work on new material, with indications of a future album project already under consideration.
