James and Rupam to Perform Sydney

Bangladeshi rock musician James and Indian rock artist Rupam Islam are set to share the stage once again, continuing a collaboration that has previously drawn strong audience interest. The two performers, who lead the bands Nagar Baul and Fossils respectively, will appear together in a live concert scheduled to take place in Australia this September.

According to organisers, the event—titled “Live in Sydney”—will be held on 12 September at the Norwest Convention Centre in Sydney, located in the state of New South Wales. The concert is being organised by the Bengali CineClub Australia. It will mark a rare joint appearance by the two artists outside Bangladesh and India, with both bands expected to perform alongside their frontmen.

The organisers have described the concert as a significant occasion for Bengali rock music audiences in Australia, noting that such a joint performance has not previously been staged there. The event is expected to feature popular songs associated with both artists, many of which have gained recognition among Bengali-speaking audiences across generations.

A representative of James and Nagar Baul, Rubaiyat Thakur Robin, confirmed that discussions with the organisers have been finalised. While detailed arrangements have not yet been publicly disclosed, he indicated that preparations are under way and that the event is expected to be organised on a large scale.

Rupam Islam is currently engaged in promotional activities for his book Bagh Brahma Khela, while also continuing performances with Fossils. Despite his ongoing commitments, he is preparing separately for the Sydney concert. The two artists last performed together in India at the “Pujowalar Gaan” concert, which received a positive response from audiences.

James, meanwhile, remains active in live performances despite not releasing new music recently. He has stated that he is working on several songs, which are expected to be released upon completion, although no timeline has been confirmed.

Earlier this year, he performed at a Pohela Boishakh concert held at Edward College in Pabna, organised by Square and Maasranga Television. He has also participated in concerts in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Tangail. In the previous year, he performed internationally, including in the United States and Saudi Arabia, responding to demand from expatriate Bengali audiences.
