Meghdol and Chandrabindoo Unite

For the first time in the history of contemporary Bengali band music, two highly regarded names from India and Bangladesh—Meghdol and Chandrabindoo—are set to share the same stage in a landmark joint performance. The concert will take place on 5 September in Kolkata, marking a significant cultural moment that has already generated considerable anticipation among music enthusiasts across both countries.

Organised by Talent Wall, the event has been titled “Megh Melle Chhade”, a symbolic phrase reflecting the artistic convergence of the two bands. According to the organisers, the exact venue and detailed schedule will be announced in due course. They have described the initiative as an important milestone in the evolution of Bengali band music, particularly in the context of cross-border cultural collaboration.

Meghdol’s lead vocalist and lyricist, Shibu Kumar Shil, expressed his pride and excitement about sharing the stage with Chandrabindoo. He noted that despite geographical separation, both bands share a similar artistic sensibility and musical philosophy. He further remarked that Chandrabindoo’s music had been a formative influence since his student days, shaping his own creative journey.

In addition to the joint performance, Meghdol has indicated plans to expand their presence in West Bengal through a series of solo concerts in multiple cities. These performances will be announced gradually through their official communication channels. The band has emphasised that Kolkata audiences have consistently supported their work, helping to strengthen their artistic growth over the years.

Alongside their live performance schedule, Meghdol remains actively engaged in new studio projects. The band has recently recorded a track for the upcoming film “Royed”, directed by Mejbauer Rahman Suman. The song is expected to be released early next month. Furthermore, the band is preparing to unveil the final three tracks from their third album “Aluminium-er Dana”, titled “Carnival,” “Bagh,” and “Tar Kothay Khuji Pai,” which will soon be made available to listeners.

Meghdol also recently performed a well-received solo concert in Dhaka at the Yamaha Flagship Centre during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations, drawing a strong audience response. They are currently preparing for a series of concerts across several divisional cities in Bangladesh, beginning with Barishal.
