Niloy Ahmed, a rising talent in contemporary Bangladeshi music, has been steadily carving out a distinctive presence in the industry. Recently, he captivated audiences once again with his rendition of Hay Mon for the web series Aṭka. The opportunity came through his long-standing association with the series’ director, Arafat Mohsin Nidhi, who also composed and arranged the song.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Niloy said, “When Nidhi was planning Aṭka, he offered me the chance to sing this track. Having worked together before, I accepted without hesitation. After receiving approval from the production house Chorki, the song was finalised.”
Exploring Playback Singing for Web Series
Niloy shared his perspective on the differences between audio recording and playback singing for visual media. “Although the technical aspects of singing remain similar, playback requires consideration of the character and narrative context. This shapes the song’s expression and atmosphere,” he explained. He added, “Whether it’s a film, drama, or web series, the creative freedom in composition and music remains the same.”
Audience Reception
Hay Mon received an overwhelmingly positive response upon release. Renowned lyricist Tanmoy Parvez, composer Arafat Mohsin Nidhi, and singer Raba Khan all praised the track. “Audience appreciation is the greatest reward for any artist,” Niloy reflected.
Previous and Recent Playback Experiences
Niloy described his journey: “After contributing to films like Hello Amit and 36-24-36, working on a web series was a new experience. I have dreamt of being a playback singer since childhood. While reality shows such as D’R Star, various albums, and television commercials provided opportunities, my true dream was realised through playback singing.”
He emphasised that despite gaining recognition as a playback artist, he continues to explore all musical avenues, stating, “Fulfilling the audience’s expectations is my primary goal. I even left my job to dedicate myself fully to singing—without any hesitation.”
Upcoming Project
Following his recent work on Moyna, Niloy has recorded a duet titled O Jan with singer Konal. The song promises to be a musical film experience.
