Google has introduced a significant redesign for Wear OS with the latest update to version 6, bringing a fresh new look to smartwatches. However, not all apps have yet adopted this new design language. YouTube Music was one of the apps still waiting for the update — until now.
The YouTube Music app for Wear OS has now received a makeover, incorporating Google’s Material 3 expressive design language. This update, which was first spotted on the Google Pixel 4, introduces the new design primarily to the app tiles and several other elements, though it hasn’t yet been applied to the music player interface itself.
Android Authority was the first to report on the redesign, with SamMobile later confirming the update.
The redesigned interface features vibrant background colours and rounded corners, particularly visible on the vertical poster for your favourite playlists. The ‘Browse’ button, which was previously plain white, is now coloured and shaped like a cloud.
Thanks to these changes, selecting a playlist and starting your favourite music has become even easier. The text now appears in a bold font, replacing the previous thin typeface, and each item in the list occupies more vertical space, making it easier to select a song.
While the new Material 3 expressive design language for YouTube Music is now visible on Wear OS, it remains to be seen whether this will appear on Samsung’s smartwatches as well.
