Singer and actor Tahsan has found himself at the centre of intense speculation in recent months following his announcement to step away from music. Rumours have circulated, with some suggesting his decision was driven by religious reasons, while others have linked him to a faith-based political party. Tahsan has now spoken out to address these claims.
At a recent event in the capital, Tahsan said, “When I first mentioned stepping away from music at my Melbourne concert, there were only a few people in the audience. I never imagined that it would spread across the country the way it has. Just like I gradually took a step back from acting, I am also taking a gradual break from music. I’m an emotional, poetic person – it came out spontaneously. But that one statement has led to so much misinformation. I even saw an edited photo of myself with a cap, trying to link me to a political party, as if I’ve joined politics!”
Tahsan believes such actions are motivated by a desire for viral attention. “It seems to me that some people just want to go viral. This is happening all over the world now. That’s why you have to be very careful with your words. You never know when or how a single remark might spiral out of control,” he explained.
Regarding his decision to take a break from music, Tahsan clarified, “This isn’t the first time I’ve taken a break. Over my career, I’ve paused several times. After leaving the band Black to start my solo career, I stopped performing live shows for a few years. When I went to the United States for my master’s degree, I didn’t release any songs or perform for two years. Now, I’m taking another break. In these 25 years, I’ve received more love than I ever expected. If I keep doing the same thing, it might start to feel monotonous. There’s another reason for this break too, but I can’t share it publicly. Everyone goes through moments in life that are so personal and extraordinary, even they can hardly comprehend them. I don’t want to say anything that could become a national issue.”
Tahsan also shared that he is now focused on his studies. “Life comes in chapters,” he said. “In the first chapter, you feel like you know nothing. In the second, you think you’ve learned everything. I was in that phase. But recently, I’ve realised that I actually know very little about life and the world. I need to study more.”
