Singer Eva Arman Debuts Poetic Anthology ‘Chithi’ at Book Fair

In a poignant transition from the recording studio to the literary stage, the celebrated Bangladeshi vocalist Eva Arman—widely known by her stage name, Eva Rahman—has unveiled her debut collection of poetry at the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela 2026. Entitled Chithi (The Letter), the anthology was launched under the prestigious banner of the publishing house Anyaprokash and is currently one of the featured highlights at their stall.

Verse as a Vessel for Unspoken Emotion

The collection comprises 48 meticulously crafted poems, each serving as a metaphorical “letter” addressed to various recipients: a distant loved one, the poet’s inner self, or the relentless passage of time. Through a tapestry of waiting, memory, and the subtle tensions of human relationships, Arman explores the reservoir of emotions that often remain unvoiced in daily life.

Speaking on her inspiration, Eva Arman noted:

“Letters represent the words we carry within us but often lack the courage to speak aloud. Chithi is an attempt to give those lingering sentiments a literary form.”

A Literary Lineage

While this marks her first official foray into published poetry, Arman’s connection to the written word is deeply rooted in her family history. She is the granddaughter of Md. Ibrahim, a distinguished writer based in Kolkata during the mid-20th century. Ibrahim’s contributions to children’s literature, including the 1963 classic Chhaitra and 1968’s Jalsa, served as a formative influence, instilling a profound respect for the Bengali language in her from a young age.

From Melodies to Manuscripts

Eva Arman’s transition to literature follows a prolific musical career. Since her debut solo album in 2004, she has released 24 albums, cementing her status as a household name. Her artistic contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Kalakar Award in Kolkata.
