Shael Oswal is an Indian pop singer, entrepreneur, and member of an affluent business family, best known for his hit track Soniye Hiriye (2006) and a series of successful music albums.
Background and Personal Life
Shael Oswal was born on 28 May 1978 in Ludhiana, Punjab, into a prominent industrialist family. His father, Abhey Kumar Oswal, was a well-known textile and industrial businessman. After his father’s passing in 2016, his mother, Aruna Oswal, assumed the role of Chairperson of the family’s enterprises. His elder brother, Pankaj Oswal, is actively involved in managing the companies alongside their mother, while his sister, Shallu Jindal, is married to industrialist Naveen Jindal.
The Oswal family owns Oswal Agro Mills and Oswal Greentech. They are not connected to the Motilal Oswal group or any other company sharing the name “Oswal”—a common surname within the Oswal Jain trading community to which they belong.
Shael attended Mayo College, one of India’s prestigious boarding schools, and graduated in Commerce from Delhi University.
He has been married twice. His first wife, Apsara Trivedi Oswal, was a fashion model, with whom he has two children: a son, Shivam, and a daughter, Sohanaa. The couple later divorced.
In July 2020, Shael married actress Sameksha, known for her work in television serials and music videos. Their wedding was held at a local Gurudwara in Singapore. Before their marriage, they collaborated on several music albums, including Makhmalli Pyaar and Tere Naal.

Aside from music, Shael serves as a Director of PT Garda Tujuh Buana, a coal mining company, leveraging his family’s extensive business network.

Shael Oswal’s debut video album, Dud, marked his entry into the Indian pop music scene. His subsequent album, Kahan Hai Tu, sold approximately 100,000 copies and established him as a rising star. He achieved widespread fame in 2006 with his chart-topping track Soniye Hiriye, which remains one of his most recognised works.
