Saikat Das Revives Rabindranath Classics

Renowned Bangladeshi vocalist Saikat Das has lent his melodious voice to one of Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless songs, “Tui Phele Eshechhis Kare”, a composition that continues to captivate listeners across generations. The song, cherished by both the young and the elderly, has found a new expression through Das’s rendition, arranged musically by contemporary composer Suman Kalyan.

The soulful lines of the song, “Tui Phele Eshechhis Kare, Mon, Mon Re Amar”, retain the poetic grace of the Bard while being complemented with a modern musical arrangement. It is scheduled for release today, 19 February, on Suman Kalyan’s official YouTube channel.

Reflecting on his experience, Saikat Das said:

“Suman Kalyan once told me, ‘You have explored modern music extensively, but your voice carries the essence of Rabindra Sangeet.’ That prompted me to try singing Tagore’s compositions, and in the process, I fell in love with Rabindra Sangeet all over again.”

Composer Suman Kalyan added:

“Saikat Da has been performing since the 1970s and has inspired many upcoming artists through his work. Yet he has always stayed away from the limelight. Among his performances, he has also rendered a few of Tagore’s masterpieces. I am confident that audiences will appreciate this latest rendition.”
