Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has taken creativity to an entirely new level, starring in a surreal Pringles commercial that aired during Super Bowl LX on 8 February. The advertisement showcases Carpenter constructing a man entirely out of the iconic potato crisps, affectionately named Pringleleo, after declaring she is “so tired of boys.”
In the whimsical ad, Carpenter and Pringleleo embark on a series of lighthearted adventures: they share a dinner date, fly a kite, and even find themselves caught on a kiss-cam at a sports game. The narrative crescendos when Pringleleo is swarmed by an enthusiastic crowd outside a concert, highlighting the playful absurdity of the concept.
A 30-second version of the commercial aired during NBC’s Super Bowl broadcast, while an extended cut is available for viewing online. The ad was directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, the duo behind Carpenter’s visually striking music video for Manchild last year.
Carpenter described the experience to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Filming with a man made of Pringles was definitely a first for me. I trust directors Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia – we shot the Manchild video together. They are so creative, and the partnership with them and the Pringles brand team allowed us to bring this to life in a way that felt so unhinged and hilarious in the best way.”
She added that maintaining authenticity to her brand was paramount:
“I wanted to incorporate my sense of humour and create a commercial that felt nontraditional for a major snack brand.”
Beyond the commercial, Carpenter has remained busy in the entertainment world. Last week, she performed Manchild at the Grammys on an airport-themed set, donning a pilot’s uniform and navigating luggage conveyor belts while wielding traffic wands. Although nominated for six awards, she did not take home any trophies.
Carpenter also starred in the revival of The Muppet Show, performing Manchild with a flock of muppet chickens and duetting with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy on Islands in the Stream. Meanwhile, the Super Bowl halftime show featured Bad Bunny, and Green Day delivered a politics-free medley in the opening ceremony, a choice that drew some criticism from fans.
