Rosé has officially made Grammys history, securing three nominations on Friday, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
The 28-year-old singer-songwriter, a member of K-pop supergroup Blackpink, became the first K-pop idol to receive nominations in the Grammys’ main six, general field categories. These prestigious awards include Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Producer of the Year (Non-Classical), and Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical).
Rosé, alongside her collaborator Bruno Mars, received nominations in two of these categories — Record of the Year, recognising the recording of the song, and Song of the Year, recognising the songwriting — as well as a nod in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their hit single APT.
“I’m getting chills right now,” Rosé said earlier this year during a Hollywood Reporter cover interview when asked about potentially making history at the Grammys. “I think it’ll be a moment that proves to myself so many things I grew up doubting. If this happens, it’s going to mean more to so many more people than myself. It’ll prove a lot in me as well. It’ll just be a moment of celebration for everyone who believes.”
Earlier this year, Rosé also earned an MTV VMA, taking home the Song of the Year trophy for APT, which spent 45 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut solo album, Rosie, released in December 2024, featured APT as its first single and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
Rosé’s nominations, alongside those received by K-pop group Demon Hunters, mark a significant milestone for K-pop in the United States, highlighting the genre’s growing mainstream influence. Supergroup BTS first paved the way for K-pop at the Grammys in 2021 with their nomination in the Pop Duo/Group Performance category for Dynamite. Additionally, girl group KATSEYE, a global act formed through K-pop training methods by Korean label Hybe and Geffen Records, also secured two nominations this year.
