No Doubt will headline additional shows at the Sphere on 3, 5, 6, 10, 12 and 13 June, following strong fan demand. While the extra dates have been added officially in response to requests, industry insiders note that Sphere Entertainment often manages schedules carefully to avoid favouring any superstar headliner over others.
No Doubt, one of the defining rock acts of the 1990s and the Sphere’s first millennial rock headliner, could easily have sold out all 18 shows scheduled for the week. However, Sphere CEO James Dolan reportedly prefers to balance opportunities across performers, ensuring no act receives more initial on-sale dates than their peers.
Tickets for the additional shows will go on sale to the general public at 12 noon PT on Friday, 14 November via Ticketmaster, with an artist presale starting at 12 noon PT on Wednesday, 12 November.
Meanwhile, a long-awaited soundtrack release has delighted classic film fans. The Wizard of Oz at Sphere: The Soundtrack is now available across digital platforms. Eighty-six years after the film’s release, this marks the first time the beloved songs have been collected and presented with high-quality recordings.
Historically, the songs were never released as a proper album due to limitations in the original recording technology. The 42 tracks in the collection were initially captured on the film set with inferior sound equipment. Iconic numbers such as Judy Garland’s rendition of Over the Rainbow could only be experienced within the movie, and a studio recording released in 1939 offered different vocals and arrangements.
Producers of the Sphere show took the original film vocals from Garland and her co-stars, digitally enhanced them, and paired them with new performances by an 80-piece orchestra recorded on the original MGM soundstage. Carolyn Blackwood, head of Sphere Studios, explained, “We were able to bring every detail to life with unprecedented fidelity for a listening experience that is unmatched — both at Sphere and at home.”
In other music news, Jewel will headline a concert for the inaugural Not Alone Awards and Summit, taking place from 10-12 November at the Wynn. The event focuses on mental wellness and will also feature appearances from Steve Wozniak, Flavor Flav, Rachel Platten, Alec Benjamin, JP Saxe, Cassadee Pope, Bishop Briggs, Harry Hudson and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels.
This week promises a mix of nostalgic film magic, iconic rock returns, and star-studded wellness celebrations, all taking centre stage in Las Vegas.
